Research Training Fellowships for Medical, Dental and Veterinary Students

Medical Fellows Program
The Medical Fellows Program supports a year of full-time biomedical research training for medical, dental, and veterinary students. This includes new joint initiatives with the Ivy Foundation for student researchers in the neurosciences, particularly neuro-oncology, and the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) for veterinary students.

The HHMI-NIH Research Scholars Program, also known as the Cloister Program, was established in 1985 to give outstanding students at U.S. medical schools the opportunity to receive research training at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Research Scholars spend nine months to a year on the NIH campus, conducting basic, translational or applied biomedical research under the direct mentorship of senior NIH research scientists. read more

UMMC Study Center for the National Children's Study (NCS):

announces some important research opportunities. The NCS is a cohort study of children from the prenatal period through age 21. Ultimately, there will be 100,000 children from across the United States in the study - a HUGE opportunity for exploring issues of children's health. Read more

IRSP The objective of the program is to strengthen the biomedical research environment at the University of Mississippi Medical Center through the use of flexible funds that enable faculty to respond quickly and effectively to emerging opportunities and unpredictable circumstances that develop during the course of active research programs. The highest priority for awards will be those projects that are most competitive for future extramural funding. Application deadline for Cycle 1 is March 2 for funding to begin May 1 and application deadline for Cycle 2 is September 1 for funding to begin November 1. IRSP awards are made for a one-year period only. read more
