Request for Proposals - American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant
Objectives
The American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant Committee is requesting research proposals for the 2006 cycle of funding. The objective of the program is to recruit new investigators to conduct cancer-related research. The research areas supported by the program are basic cancer research, clinical cancer research (cancer control research, health services research, psychosocial and behavioral cancer research), preclinical (clinically relevant) cancer research, epidemiologic cancer research and health policy and outcomes cancer research. The program is designed to facilitate new faculty members in establishing a reputation in cancer research and to enhance their potential for obtaining major funding in cancer research.
Eligibility
Full-time faculty of The University of Mississippi Medical Center, as well as faculty with joint (UMC/VA) appointments at the Instructor or Assistant Professor rank who are within eight years of their first independent faculty appointment (or equivalent) are eligible to apply. They must be eligible to apply for grant support from national agencies, but have no such support at the time of the IRG award.
Amount
The maximum funding for any application is $25,000 for one year.
Deadline
The deadline for receipt of the proposals is February 1, 2006. Funding will begin March 1, 2006.
